About the Role

Sureel AI is building the standards and infrastructure for AI rights, licensing, attribution, protection, and intelligence, starting in music and expanding across media, helping creators and rights holders control how their work is used by AI and participate in new AI licensing models. Acquired by Warner Music Group, Sureel operates as an independent, federated company. As Lead, Business Development & Licensing, reporting to the CEO and two Co-Presidents, you will own Sureel's business function across negotiations with AI companies, DSPs, and rights holders, shaping the commercial architecture of AI attribution at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the business function for Sureel's negotiations with AI companies, DSPs, digital service providers, or rights holders, from first conversation through signature
  • Negotiate the economics of platform integrations, including licensing models, revenue structures, and payment flows
  • Develop business use cases for integrating Sureel's infrastructure with AI companies and DSPs
  • Develop licensing and economic frameworks for an emerging category that can work across different partners and markets
  • Structure multi-stakeholder commercial arrangements among rights holders and industry participants
  • Partner with Client Relations on rights-holder relationships, owning commercial terms and deal economics
  • Work closely with Warner Music Group counterparts on commercial terms, licensing structures, and strategic priorities
  • Provide market intelligence on emerging technologies, competitive developments, and deal dynamics
  • Represent Sureel with industry and standards organizations, including DDEX and WIPO
  • Develop pricing and packaging for Sureel's platform, including enterprise fees, API/usage-based pricing, transaction fees, and revenue share
  • Create repeatable commercial and licensing frameworks that scale across partners

Requirements

  • Deep experience structuring and negotiating commercial agreements in music, media, or technology, including licensing deals and platform integrations
  • Experience owning the business side of negotiations with platforms, DSPs, technology companies, or rights holders, from term sheet through signature
  • Strong understanding of music industry economics: how rights generate revenue and how value flows between platforms, intermediaries, and rights holders
  • Comfortable with data and financial detail; able to model revenue structures and explain business logic clearly
  • Able to structure complex deals and build trust quickly in high-stakes negotiations
  • Nice to have: direct experience negotiating with AI companies or DSPs; experience with artists, labels, publishers, or CMOs/PROs on the commercial side; involvement in industry licensing or standards initiatives
