Sony Music is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Data to join its product team in London and lead the development of a portfolio of shared data products spanning streaming, fan engagement, social and creator activity, and commerce.

You will own the strategy, roadmap and delivery of a portfolio of shared data products. Working with business stakeholders, source-product owners and data engineering, you will turn business needs into clear requirements, deliver dependable datasets and establish definitions and relationships that can be reused across products. As new datasets and requirements emerge, the team needs to understand what the data contains, establish what it means and make it useful beyond the team or product where it originated.

What You'll Do

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for a portfolio of shared data products, with a focus on developing new datasets to meet emerging business needs. Understand needs across teams, identify valuable opportunities and prioritise initiatives that support artist teams and the wider business.
  • Turn business requests into well-defined data initiatives. Meet the people who produce and use the data, examine source datasets and establish the questions users need to answer, the information required and the measures of success.
  • Define reusable datasets with engineering. Agree on the records, fields, relationships, quality, freshness and access requirements for each use case. Establish clear acceptance criteria and resolve trade-offs with stakeholders and engineers.
  • Lead delivery and adoption. Maintain a prioritised backlog and work with engineering through implementation, validation, launch and ongoing improvement. Ensure the teams receiving the data can use it to meet the agreed need.
  • Steward shared definitions and data models. Work with domain experts and engineers to establish consistent definitions, identifiers, relationships and metrics. Develop the shared semantic layer so that concepts such as artists, tracks, markets, campaigns and audiences are understood consistently across products.
  • Connect datasets to enable new capabilities. Identify where combining data creates value and lead the product work required, including relating streaming performance to social activity, campaigns, fan engagement and commerce.
  • Make data discoverable and understandable. Ensure data products have clear documentation, usage examples and known limitations, helping analysts, data scientists and downstream product teams use them confidently.
  • Help develop and apply practical data standards. Partner with leadership, engineering and relevant specialists on quality, ownership, access, lineage and appropriate use, and translate these expectations into requirements.
  • Agree responsibilities for ongoing use. Work with source-product owners and engineering teams to establish how source changes, maintenance, quality issues and communication with users will be handled.
  • Measure adoption and impact. Gather user feedback and evidence of usefulness, track whether the capabilities delivered meet their intended outcomes and use the findings to inform the roadmap.
  • Build stakeholder alignment. Explain priorities and investment decisions, communicate progress and translate technical considerations into clear business implications.

You will work closely with the existing Data Platform product and engineering teams, coordinating priorities and dependencies with the platform migration and operational roadmap, and partner with source-product PMs and the teams building on the shared data products you deliver.

Who You Are

  • You have a track record of leading data products or platform capabilities from discovery and strategy through delivery, adoption and ongoing improvement
  • You can set a clear product direction and prioritise pragmatically, balancing business value, user needs, technical constraints and dependencies across teams
  • You are comfortable examining source data and working through detailed requirements with business experts, analysts and engineers
  • You have experience turning fragmented data and business requirements into reusable datasets, shared capabilities or data products that support multiple use cases
  • You have a strong understanding of modern data platforms, including Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouses, and can work effectively with engineers on data ingestion, modelling, pipelines and downstream consumption
  • You understand semantic layers and shared data definitions, and can establish consistent meaning across products and domains
  • You can make informed product decisions about data quality, freshness, ownership, access and lineage, with an understanding of privacy and appropriate data use
  • You are comfortable working across product boundaries, clarifying responsibilities and influencing teams whose roadmaps and priorities may differ
  • You have strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to translate complex problems into clear requirements, priorities and delivery plans
  • You communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders and executives
  • You have strong documentation skills and can make data products, definitions and decisions understandable to the teams that depend on them
  • You focus on whether people can use and rely on the capabilities you deliver, with experience measuring adoption, usefulness and business impact

Bonus Points

  • Experience working in the music or entertainment industry, particularly with streaming, consumption or artist audience data
  • Experience with fan engagement, social and creator analytics, marketing campaigns, D2C commerce or customer data platforms
  • Experience connecting data across platforms through shared identifiers, entity relationships or audience segmentation
  • Experience building data capabilities that support analytics, marketing intelligence or AI-powered products
  • Experience with data catalogs, observability tools or business intelligence platforms such as Sigma
  • Experience managing global or enterprise-scale data products, platform migrations or change management

What We Give You

  • A vibrant global community with the opportunity to channel your passion every day
  • A modern office environment designed to help you bring your best
  • Investment in your professional growth and development
  • The space to accelerate progress, positively disrupt and create what happens next
