Overview

Music wouldn't exist without the work of songwriters, composers and publishers. We're here to represent them and make sure that they are paid for their work. After more than a century in the industry, we continue to innovate as a world-leading organisation.

The role

We are seeking a highly experienced, commercially astute and strategic Head of Procurement with at least 10+ years' leadership experience to lead PRS for Music's Procurement function on a 12-month maternity cover basis.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for setting and delivering the procurement strategy, providing strategic leadership for the procurement team, supplier management and commercial governance across PRS, ensuring procurement supports organisational objectives, financial sustainability and operational excellence.

These include the rollout of a new procurement system, delivery of cost saving targets as part of the three-year plan, strategic sourcing and supplier programmes, contract negotiation and commercial support, company audits and remediation activities, AI and automation initiatives, and the replacement of core business systems.

Responsibilities

Managing the Procurement team

  • Lead and develop a growing Procurement team, providing support for newer team members.
  • Support colleagues as they take on new responsibilities and ways of working.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to build capability and confidence and a positive, collaborative working culture.
  • Ensure BAU procurement activities continue to run smoothly during periods of change.

Strategy implementation

  • Implement innovative and cost-effective procurement strategies, including new supplier frameworks and PSL, supplier performance and contract management, and a triage service for internal stakeholders and suppliers.

Commercial management

  • Drive cost management and spend control by delivering savings targets, identifying procurement efficiencies and cost avoidance opportunities, and managing a 12-24 month sourcing pipeline to maximise value for money.
  • Provide commercial assurance across portfolio business cases and investment proposals, using spend, contract and supplier data to support robust decision-making.
  • Establish commercial targets, monitor delivery against budgets and benefits, work closely with Finance, and produce management information for the CFO on costs, savings and supplier initiatives.

Audit actions

  • Following the cyber and finance audits in Q1 2027, work with stakeholders to deliver all remediation actions, strengthen controls and processes, and ensure a positive audit outcome for PRS.

Rollout of the new supplier onboarding and procurement system (Atamis)

  • Lead the implementation and rollout of Atamis across PRS, from readiness and go-live through to business-as-usual operation.
  • Work with Procurement, Finance, Technology and business teams to ensure the system supports efficient procurement and supplier management.
  • Deliver the change management plan, including company-wide communications, departmental engagement sessions, intranet updates and Viva Engage bulletins.
  • Drive system adoption, improve compliance and reduce off-system purchasing, contracting and supplier onboarding.
  • Implement reporting and dashboards for visibility of spend, contracts, suppliers and procurement activity.

Supplier strategy and governance

  • Develop and oversee supplier management and contract governance frameworks.
  • Establish supplier performance measures and strategic supplier reviews.
  • Ensure procurement policies, controls and delegated authorities remain effective and compliant.

About you

Essential criteria

  • Strong procurement, supplier relationship and contract management experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering value for money and cost savings through commercial negotiations and supplier management.
  • Experience leading a procurement function or significant procurement transformation programme.
  • Experience developing and implementing procurement strategies.
  • Experience delivering measurable savings, cost avoidance and commercial benefits.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing Executive Leadership Teams and Boards.

Desirable criteria

  • Chartered MCIPS or working towards it with an appropriate CIPS qualification.
  • Degree in Law, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Experience analysing supplier and contract performance data.
  • Experience leading procurement transformation, rollout of a new procurement system or change initiatives.

Location

Hybrid working model, based in London (work from home up to three days a week). This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover.
